The Best Imaging Procedures for Fertility Treatment

Folliculometry is a procedure that involves performing a series of ultrasound examinations in order to monitor the growth of follicles in the ovary. It is done from the 9th to the 20th day of the menstrual cycle (if the cycle lasts 28 days). Based on the findings of these ultrasound examinations, the exact time of ovulation can be estimated. Each ultrasound examination takes about 20 minutes. On average, there are 4 to 6 such reviews within the menstrual cycle.

During folliculometry, the doctor monitors and records the number of follicles in development, their size and the time of ovulation (if it occurs). This examination can also determine the thickness of the mucous membrane of the uterus, which is very important in the process of starting a pregnancy. Based on the thickness and appearance of the uterus on ultrasound, it can be indirectly concluded how much of a hormone is produced. Folliculometry is a very safe test with no known side effects.

A specialized medical examination for assessing the female pelvic region, is a powerful tool in detecting abnormalities in the uterus, cervix, endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, or pelvic cavity. Conducted by our proficient sonographers and physicians, this technology is adept at uncovering conditions like fibroids, polyps, or scar tissue in the uterus, as well as congenital abnormalities that might contribute to recurrent pregnancy losses or infertility.

Especially significant for women facing multiple miscarriages, this test allows skilled doctors to capture detailed images, often rivaling or surpassing those obtained through an MRI, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), or Sonohysterogram. Our latest technology machine enhances this process, providing highly detailed imaging for superior diagnoses. Unlike some other procedures, a 3D/4D vaginal ultrasound is less invasive, offering a more comprehensive view of reproductive health concerns. Typically performed just before the onset of the next menstrual cycle, this advanced imaging technology ensures a thorough examination, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy and informed decision-making for optimal reproductive health.

It is a comprehensive examination of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvis (full female reproductive system) using ultrasound. The HyCoSy exam is used in the evaluation of infertility. The greatest advantages of this exam include no exposure to ionizing radiation and a complete evaluation of the described pelvic organs in one setting. The exam has multiple components:

  1. Pelvic ultrasound with 3D rendering and dynamic maneuvers
    • 3D ultrasound is a special technique that allows evaluation of the shape of the uterus
    • Dynamic maneuvers involve applying gentle pressure with the ultrasound transducer to look for pelvic scarring or adhesions
  2. Saline-infused hysterosonogram: Ultrasound imaging of the uterus after filling the uterine cavity with saline. This allows assessment of the uterine lining.
  3. Contrast hysterosalpingography: Ultrasound imaging of the uterus and fallopian tubes after filling these structures with contrast material. This allows assessment for tubal obstruction.

The exam should take place between 7-11 days after the beginning of your last menstrual period.

Breast ultrasound is an imaging test that uses sound waves to look at the inside of your breasts. It can help your doctor find breast problems. It also lets your doctor see how well blood is flowing to areas in your breasts. It is used to help diagnose breast lumps or other abnormalities found during a physical exam or on a mammogram or breast MRI. Ultrasound is safe, non-invasive, and does not use radiation.

Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum uses sound waves to produce pictures of a male's testicles and surrounding tissues. It is the primary method used to help evaluate disorders of the testicles, epididymis (tubes immediately next to the testicles that collect sperm) and scrotum. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation. Overall, a testicular ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool that can provide important information about the health of the testicles
